The WPSA focuses on promoting excellence in poultry science, husbandry and education.
Supporting her career in the industry, Dr Laura Faller, ABN Poultry Nutritionist joined the WPSA around 10 years ago as a student, becoming more involved four years ago, when she joined the UK Branch Council.
The WPSA is an international association, with around 70 UK members. Laura is joint chair of the annual UK Branch Meeting, and is also involved in organising the Poultry Science Symposium (PSS), an international event taking places every two years.
The WPSA UK Branch Meeting, which took place on 29th and 30th March 2023 at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham, and was organised in conjunction with the British Society for Animal Science (BSAS).
The two-day event had a strong emphasis on student participation, encouraging the submission of abstracts, with two invited presentations. This year’s presentations were based around insects in poultry feed, and sexing embryos, as well as the Gordon Memorial Lecture and Reception on the evening on the 29th March, delivered by Prof. Ian Brown, Head of Virology Dept.
