After gaining a BSc in Agriculture and MSc in animal nutrition, I worked on pig units before starting my career in the animal feed industry back in 1994. I have been with ABN since 1997 working in both the pig and poultry and game teams during my time. More recently I can be found managing the ABN pig and Sportsman Game Feeds commercial teams and their day to day activity.

Passionate about farming and food production, I still spend much of my time talking to customers, gaining valuable feedback about ABN ‘s performance and ensuring that we continue to add value to our customers businesses.

Growing up in Oxfordshire, I always loved animals and the outdoors, so I considered pursuing veterinary medicine. However, during work experience on a range of local farms I found I had much more of a passion for Agriculture. I was intrigued by the way farms balance economic viability with animal and environmental welfare, and so applied for an Agriculture and Farm Business Management course at Harper Adams University.

During my placement year I gained a Pig Industry Scholarship. I spent the year working on farm with ABN customers and with the commercial and customer support teams. This prompted me to focus my final year studies on the current challenges facing the UK pig industry - I wrote my dissertation on the use of in-feed organic acids in the context of changing zinc oxide legislation and antibiotic reduction. Having completed my degree, I am delighted to return to ABN as an Account Manager in the pig team.

At home, I like to make the most of the scenic running routes and of course the country pubs! I enjoy visiting friends around the country and returning to Ireland to see my family.

Growing up in the Essex countryside, I have always had a love for animals and the outdoors, working as a volunteer at a local veterinary practice then moving on to Colchester Zoo as a Zoo Keeper in the Tiger Team, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My love for animals is what lead me to study Animal Management with Livestock Production at Writtle University College, graduating in 2018 with a BSc (Hons) Degree.
After graduating, the urge to travel called and my love for animals grew, volunteering at a raptor rehabilitation centre in Alabama during my travels through America. On my return, I decided that my real passion lay within the agriculture sector. Following on from my roles at Volac International and W & H Marriages & Sons, I am excited to be starting a new chapter at ABN as an Account Manager in the pig team.
Away from work, my passion is breeding and showing quality poultry and I enjoy walks in the countryside.

After leaving Harper Adams, I joined RHM in East Anglia in 1972, which subsequently was acquired by Dalgety, where the focus was the supply of pig diets from mills at Bury St Edmunds & Walsingham.

With the demise of Dalgety, the business then became part of ABN where for the last 15 years, I have been responsible for the company interface, with most of the major UK pig producers.

Interests outside of the farming industry include my 3 steam engines, which I used to give 1930's stone crushing and road making demonstrations with my family at East Anglian vintage rallies.

My interests in agriculture and animals started from a young age, growing up surrounded by livestock in the Yorkshire countryside. This is what lead me to study Animal Science at Newcastle University where I was able to use their fantastic Pig Unit at Cockle Park Farm in many of my assignments.

After graduating in 2021, I spent two years working as a nutritionist in the equine feed industry. Completing my Diploma in Pig Nutrition inspired me to pursue a career in the pig feed industry. I am excited to be starting a new chapter at ABN as an Account Manager in the pig team, and I am very much looking forward to meeting customers and going out on farms.

Outside of work you can find me running and walking with the dog, baking, and visiting my friends across the country.

After gaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology at the University of Southampton, I completed my MSc in Animal Nutrition at the University of Nottingham, focusing on pig nutrition. In 2015, I joined AB Agri on the commercial nutrition graduate scheme where I worked in the monogastric technical team for ABN. Since joining ABN, I have completed a part-time PhD at the University of Leeds where my research investigated the effect of new generation prebiotics on grower pig performance and gut health.
In my current role as ABN’s pig nutritionist, I am involved in the provision of technical support and the development of pig products for the UK market. I greatly enjoy working within the ever-developing pig sector and seeking solutions to optimise pig efficiency and health.

Starting my career at Bryan College I gained practical experience as a Stockman on both indoor and outdoor units. I then spent the following years as the Unit Manager at Leeds University Farms, giving me a real in site into trial work and research. I have spent much of my career in the pig industry, joining AB Agri in 2009, and now Lead Account Manager for the pig team, supporting the commercial team. I really enjoy meeting with customers, walking their pig units and seeing the different things our customers are doing. Going onto our customers farms, we discover new methods and new ideas which you wouldn’t experience over the phone and I love passing on these ideas to other customers.

Away from work I am an avid fisherman and gardener. I live in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire with my wife and daughter.
