Fishmeal has been a key component in game feed for many years, due to its nutritional value. Originally incorporating the whole fish to produce the meal, this however was not sustainable and more recently the actual composition and potential nutritional value of fishmeal may have decreased. Furthermore, the use of fishmeal in the poultry industry as come under increased scrutiny in recent years from an environmental and sustainability standpoint.
It is important to us that our customers receive the best quality feed, whilst being mindful of a changing market. Following the results from our in depth trial work conducted in 2020, evaluating an alternative protein product, we have now replaced fishmeal in all our Sportsman diets. Sportsman Game Feed now contains Alphasoy Gold, a processed soya meal with an additional yeast component containing glucan and mannan fractions. Glucan stimulates the immune system, whilst mannan binds pathogens resulting in increased protein digestibility and improved gut health, reduced chick variability as well as reduced anti-nutritional factors such as Trypsin inhibitors.
A key benefit of these ingredients is their ability to reduce salmonella from colonising the gut. It can also promote gut development, which in turn enhances nutrient absorption.
• Increases protein digestibility
• Improve protein consistency
• Reduces the amount of anti-nutritional factors
• Yeast fractions support the development of a healthy gut & stimulates the immune system
• Trial results showed an increase in final body weight with better uniformity, with the potential of reared birds being ready for release a week earlier
• Improved mortality
• More predictable feed intake across sites
Protein source provides all the benefits of fishmeal, without the associated variability and environmental impact.
Sportsman Game Feed has been designed with the entire process in mind, from start to finish and not forgetting the transitions in between.
